2025 WA Local government elections – all results now declared

The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) has officially released the results for the 2025 WA Local Government Elections with all 167 contested elections now declared.

Polls officially closed at 6pm on Saturday 18 October, with counting commencing immediately at local government offices across the State.

For the first time, the WAEC provided real-time provisional results allowing the public and candidates to view results ahead of the formal declaration by returning officers.

Acting Electoral Commissioner Dennis O’Reilly said that enhanced workforce planning and resources has resulted in a smooth and efficient count process.

“This year’s count and the publishing of results was noticeably faster than in 2023, thanks to the support and partnerships we had in place,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“The ability to share provisional results in real time has also increased transparency and our teams across the state have worked diligently across the weekend to deliver timely and accurate outcomes.”

The WAEC oversaw postal voting for 85 local governments and six in-person elections, supporting accessible and secure voting options.

Participation overall was 29.6 percent of eligible electors, slightly down from 31.2 percent in 2023.
