The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) has confirmed a total of 1,068 candidates for the upcoming 2025 local government elections following the close of the nomination period at 4pm on Thursday 4 September.

Elections will be held across councils statewide, giving communities the opportunity to shape the future of their local areas through democratic participation.

All residents enrolled on the State electoral roll are automatically included on the corresponding local government roll for their district.

Acting Electoral Commissioner Dennis O’Reilly encouraged all eligible Western Australians to engage in the electoral process.

“Participating in the election whether as a candidate or a voter is a meaningful way to contribute to your community,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“I encourage all voters to take the time to learn about their local candidates and make their vote count.”

Candidate information and election details are available online to help voters make informed choices.
