Western Australians are urged to check their letterboxes for local government voting packages which are being sent out from this week.

“Local government election ballots are being sent out from this week,” said Electoral Commissioner Robert Kennedy. “So check your mailbox for your voting package and make your vote count. Remember, your ballot must be mailed in by 6pm on 21 October.

“If your local government is doing an in-person election, you can vote in person on Saturday 21 October, vote early or apply to your local government for a postal vote.”

With the Federal Voice Referendum being held around the same time, Mr Kennedy urged people to keep materials separate for the two elections.

“When you’re voting by post in local government elections, make sure you don’t put any Voice Referendum materials in the envelope. Keep voting materials separate to make sure your vote is counted.”
